When you visit Rincón de la Vieja National Park, you have the potential to see any of the 300 bird species that live there along with many mammals, like white-faced, howler and spider monkeys, armadillos, collared peccaries, and coatis.

Called the “Colossus of Guanacaste”, Rincón de la Vieja is the largest and most active volcano in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. And even though the volcano’s activity once served as a natural lighthouse for ships at sea, it hasn’t erupted with any force since 1998.

Steaming fumaroles, mini-geysers, bubbling volcanic clay, natural hot springs and waterfalls at Rincón de la Vieja give you a volcanic experience like no other in Costa Rica.
