Enjoy an amazing one day tour in Guanacaste at the best hot springs at Rincón de la Vieja Volcano! On this adventure tour, you’ll visit both the Sulphur Springs and also Rio Negro thermal springs.
We’ll go by horseback from Hotel Hacienda Guachipelín’s stables on a scenic trail through tropical dry forest and areas of the Hacienda ranch that are being reforested with tree species in danger of extinction. We’ll be able to see a variety of birds, mammals and reptiles as we ride our calm and friendly horses about 1.5 hours into the Rincón de la Vieja National Park to the Sulphur Springs.
After enjoying a relaxing break in these natural volcanic hot springs, we’ll mount up to ride to Rio Negro (about 1 hour).
Surrounded by tropical dry forest, the Río Negro (Black River) Hot Springs feature six pools with thermal waters heated naturally by the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano. The soothing mineral waters are crystal clear and all natural, and the river flows through the pools constantly refilling them with water. Relax and enjoy luxuriating in our healing waters. You can also try our volcanic mud “bath”, where you smooth volcanic clay mud all over yourself like a spa “masque,” then after it dries, wash it off with a cool river water shower. The hot springs water will feel great afterwards!
We’ll enjoy our delicious picnic lunch by the river, soaking in the amazing natural beauty of the area. Afterward, we’ll take a leisurely ride back to the Hacienda (about 1.5 hours). It’s a one-of-a-kind trip!
